- Performs functions required to install, operate, maintain, test, and calibrate measurement, pressure regulating, instrumentation and/or control facilities and systems.
- Installs, inspects, tests, calibrates and/or maintains:
- • Electronic correctors, EFMs and other electronic measurement devices
- • Natural gas quality analysis equipment such as samplers, chromatographs, hydrogen sulfide and moisture detection equipment.
- • Natural gas odorizing equipment
- • Natural gas pressure regulation equipment
- Performs routine functions related to:
- • Large diaphragm, turbine, rotary, orifice ultrasonic and coriolis meters
- • RTU and other SCADA equipment
- • Communications circuits and equipment, such as radio, modems, satellite, land lines
- Coordinates and performs measurement tests with third party companies to ensure measurement integrity and accuracy.
- Completes and maintains accurate records and reports to comply with Company and regulatory requirements.
- Performs activities to ensure responsiveness to natural gas and other emergencies.
- Serves as a mentor and/or trainer for less experienced MIC employees.
- Reviews and analyzes information provided by internal systems related to lost and unaccounted for natural gas.

OTHER DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- May be required to hold stand-by duty, work shifts, holidays, weekends, emergency call outs, and occasional extensive hours
- Is subject to reporting outside regular work area.
- Identifies, addresses, and reports safety and encroachment issues to their resolution and completion.
- Is responsible for the safe operation and inspection of assigned Company vehicles and equipment.
- Demonstrates support for and adheres to the Company’s values, strategies, policies and procedures and exhibits the core values of AtmoSpirit, Customer Service, Safety and the Company’s Code of Conduct both as an individual contributor, team member and/or leader of others.
- Must become familiar with the contents of the Safety Manual, live by the spirit of its intent and become involved in creating and maintaining a safe working environment. Must complete all required safety training.
Prerequisites
Requires a general educational knowledge normally acquired through a high school diploma or a General Equivalency Diploma (GED).
Must have demonstrated MIC Tech proficiency and have completed all curriculum for that role. Three years MIC Technician field experience.
Certificates and Licenses:
- Must maintain minimum Operator Qualifications (OQs) and classroom training for position.
- Requires a valid driver’s license in accordance with company standards.

- Requires advanced knowledge of various software applications and multiple technologies to create documents, reports and/or graphics.
Communication Skills
- Requires the ability to communicate with internal/external customers to obtain and/or provide explanations and/or information.
Work Conditions
- Work requires entry to customer premises.
- Works outdoors in all types of weather and may be exposed to extremes of climate and temperatures, high noise levels, rough terrain, and occasional work on ladders and confined spaces.
- Requires extensive travel.
- May have residence requirement due to call-out response time.
- Works as an individual contributor and/or as member of a team.
Physical Demands
- Requires occasionally performing activities including, but not limited to, bending, stooping, grasping, reaching, twisting, turning and/or lifting.
- Requires the acute sense of sight and hearing (corrected or uncorrected) and strong sense of smell.
- Must be able to lift tools, equipment and materials up to and including 60 pounds
Other Requirements:
- As a Safety-Sensitive position, pre and post employment screenings, including but not limited to drug testing as outlined by the Department of Transportation (DOT) and Pipeline & Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA), and motor vehicle record (MVR) background checks are required.
Onboarding
Description of Course: As a part of your on-boarding process all new employees will attend Atmos Energy Essentials 3-Day. This 3-day training at the Charles K Vaughn center in Plano, TX has been designed to provide new employees with the keys to success at Atmos Energy. The information and activities provide the foundation for all other learning activities. Participants learn about what matters to the organization and how they fit into the vision and strategy. Topics include how to be-incident free, give back to the community, achieve financial results, serve the customer and learn something new each day. Participants also learn about themselves and other team mates, what it means to be at your best each day, how to hold themselves and others accountable and provide feedback. After leaving the three-day session new employees are better prepared to participate as a team member and contribute to the organization.

Job Readiness Skills
The purpose of Measurement Essentials is to provide new MIC Techs with the skills and knowledge necessary to safely and effectively perform Atmos Energy measurement activities. This course is the first in a series of career progression modules for MIC Techs.
Instruction Type: Self-Guided eLearning Followed by Instructor-Led Training
Timeframe: The eLearning pre-work component will be approximately three to three and a half hours long. The instructor-led training component consists of two three-week semesters.

Safety Skills
Description of Course: This advanced training program is designed to improve drivers’ skills and habits through a combination of classroom education and valuable on road instruction. Each driver learns through several behind the wheel experiences, and by observing an instructor-narrated drive that demonstrates unique techniques to navigate through traffic.

On the Job Learning
Description of Course: The Senior MIC Tech on the job training is one-on-one training and practice sessions for each job task. The assigned coach breakdowns the job task into component steps and modifies training approaches in order to develop competence. The Senior MIC Tech demonstrates skills and techniques learned. Checklist completion documents the Senior MIC Tech is job ready.

Timeframe: Dependent upon approval of OJT coach and supervisor.
Pre-requisites: Measurement Essentials
Description of Course: This one-to-one skills training workshop prepares lead employees, instructors, subject matter experts, and others to become an on-the-job training (OJT) Coach/Mentor. The class consist of practice exercises and team assignments for you to learn how to teach skills. You will cover roles and responsibilities, adult learning principles, content-free coaching, teaching strategies, program management and action planning.

Timeframe: Two and a Half Days
Pre-requisites: The course is intended for Potential OJT Coach/Mentors. No prerequisites or pre-work required.

Advanced Job Skills
Description of Course: This course is offered as a stand-alone course The audience is a mid-size group consisting of MIC technicians, corrosion technicians, and others who would benefit from this course. This course is a prerequisite for Corrosion Essentials.

Description of Course: The purpose of this course is to provide MICs with the information and task performance necessary for setting up and commissioning new Daniel Ultrasonic Meter (USM) stations including meters and interfaces to ancillary equipment such as the TotalFlow electronic flow measurement (EFM) Tool, chromatograph, and CEESmaRT (third-party remote ultrasonic diagnostic monitoring).

Timeframe: The eLearning pre-work will be approximately 40 minutes long. The instructor-led training component is one week long.

Description of Course: The purpose of the SICK Ultrasonic Measurement course is to provide MICs with the information and task performance necessary to correctly set up and commission new SICK ultrasonic meter stations, including meters and interfaces to ancillary equipment such as the electronic flow meter (EFM), chromatograph, remote telemetry unit (RTU), and CEESmaRT (third-party remote ultrasonic diagnostic monitoring), conduct periodic meter tests, and troubleshoot meter issues.

Timeframe: The eLearning pre-work will be approximately 40 minutes long. The instructor-led training component is five days long.
